Exclusive Interview with Mr Tom

Hi guys thanks for taking time out from being on the road to speak with BeatReview.com

Who’s in the band and what’s their role?

Nick on vocals and rhythm guitar
Donny B on bass
Stevie G on guitar
Leeroy on Drums sample pad and triangle.

Who’s the loudest member? On and off stage.

It depends who’s been drinking the most!! We all have our moments, the other night Dom was walking through the streets of Leeds chanting ‘Oh When The Saints’ at the top of his voice.

What are the highlights of being in the band so far?

We are still in our early stages, but highlights have included recording in Leeds with producer James Kenosha (Pulled Apart By Horses, Dry The River, Dinosaur Pile-Up).Having our music synced in a film called
Piggy, and our current six week tour across the UK. We’ve had so many memorable moments on tour that we will never forget.

You guys are in the middle of your your 1st UK Tour, What was it like being on the road?

It’s been amazing. It has been a real adventure traveling between cities, busking on the streets of the major cities and playing to new audiences. It is an unforgettable experience, there is a real sense of freedom involved in a first tour. We can get up and go whenever and wherever we want, busk in our favourite cities to help promote the band and take in the sights along the way. The other day we were driving intoWales across the Severn Bridge, the sky was a clear blue, the sun was shining and we had the radio blasting out; for a moment it felt like life didn’t get much better than that!

Any tour stories that you can with the BeatReview.com readers?

Yeah, so much good stuff has happened already and we are only two weeks in. Firstly we were invited to the premier of a UK film called PUSHER whilst in London. The film is produced by Vertigo Films – the same company that have synced one of our tracks for a future film. We had never been to anything like that before so didn’t know what to expect, but it was really cool. Steve just filled up on lots of free food as he hadn’t eaten for three days. Another tale is when we were busking in Manchester, a clothing designer and director of Dye By Design, Thom Wilson heard us on the streets and invited us back to his studio for an
acoustic session and to kit us out with some gear. We had a wicked time with the team and even went out in Manchester with them that evening. It also led to a photo session with Danny Dempsey, a photographer who
is making a big name for himself at the moment. We were very lucky with that indeed, it was a real whirlwind adventure. The transition from playing on the streets to playing in the company’s office, with everyone gathered around filming us on their mobile phones was amazing.

Any plans for new releases?

Yes, we have our single coming out on RattlePop Records on the 18th of March called Feet Hit The Floor. It is the reason behind the whole tour, promoting the single; we also have a follow up coming out later in April. We have been getting some good regional airplay for the first single, so hopefully things will continue to build! Looking further into the future, we want to get back in the studio asap after the tour; we are always writing!

What else can we expect from you for the rest of 2012?

More gigs, more recordings, more tours, videos, interviews, blogs, radio plays and more fun!!!

Mr.Tom release their new single Fit Hit The Floor on March 18th through RattlePop Records
